Climate Change: Reversible or Inevitable? An Overview of Climate Change

Research has proven, time and time again, that climate change is real and is exponentially worsening. This is proven by a report from the World Bank Group, in which they have said that “The World cannot afford the collapse of ecosystem services, as such a collapse would cost 2.3 percent of global GDP (2.7 trillion annually by 2030 and some of the poorer countries would be hit hardest).Yet not many people have decided to create solutions to this problem, which may be because they do not believe in it. However, now that more and more are realizing the ever-increasing problem, they have started to come up with solutions that may work with funding. There are two sides to every story. One side, when viewed, can make a person very pessimistic about climate change, however the other side makes them very optimistic.

I have also learned 2 things from Climate change.

Number 1: We can die.

Number 2: We can survive.

Feel confused yet? That’s because if we don’t do any actions to help stop global warming, humanity will (to use the proper terminology) “die”. However, if we take action and provide solutions, from both adults and the youth, then we can “survive”. This of course is an over and under-exaggeration at the same time, but the main idea is that we all need to play our part, because if we don’t, then no one else will. This is also proven due to the fact that before major influences talked and wrote books about global warming, back in the 1900s it was considered “theoretical at best, someone else’s problem at worst” (Is It Really Green? Georgina Wilson-Powell). But as time progressed, the people soon came to realize that it was a rather sizeable dilemma than they previously thought in which global warming would affect everyone, from poor to rich countries, with the poor countries getting hit the hardest. One reason why is because poor countries usually do not have the basic necessities the rich countries have, such as functional toilet facilities, air conditioners, clean houses, and many other things that are missing because of lack of funds and money.
